The green amethyst I have in my collection are in a variety of shapes and sizes. An extensive inventory allows for more flexibility in design, right? The briolettes I used in these earrings are brand new this season. Carol will probably take credit for picking them out of the multitude of strands on the table (she was surprisingly good at finding unique stones for me!).
They are long and exceptionally chubby, but not really heavy at all. They are hanging from a pair of my hand formed sterling silver earwires. It's just that simple.

Prasiolite ... or Green Amethyst

I listed these earrings in my etsy shop yesterday. The shape of these stones is amazing. They remind me of those hanging crystals from a fancy chandelier. But they really are prasiolite, or green amethyst.
They need little adornment, so I wrapped them with oxidized sterling silver wire and suspended them from my hand formed sterling earwires.
I must remember to save 2 of these stones for myself!
Once again, I'm featured in the Etsy Weekend Deals. My deal is 20% off your entire order August 7-9. You must enter the words "weekend deal" in the message to seller. I will refund the appropriate amount via Paypal.

Smooth Green Amethyst . Earrings

When I was bead shopping in Tucson last February, I was totally taken with the selection of smooth briolettes. In the past, I remember seeing mostly faceted brios, but this year, there was a profusion of the smooth ones. Naturally, I needed some of those.
This pair of earrings features some of those smooth stones in pale green amethyst, otherwise knows as prasiolite. I topped them with a loose cluster of pink tourmaline, the palest blue aquamarine and peridot.
This color combination is perfect for spring. They are for sale in my etsy shop.

Soft Colors ... Redux

I'm really taken by the softness conveyed by certain gemstones. For these earrings, I paired pale green with shades of pink.
At the bottom of this cascade of gemstones is a faceted cube of prasiolite (green amethyst). Above it are another prasiolite, some pink tourmaline rounds and a light green tourmaline barrel.
I choose not to oxidized the silver on earrings such as these, as I feel the bright silver best shows the beauty of the stones.

Prasiolite, or Green Amethyst if You Prefer!

This necklace has been in my etsy store for quite a while. It has over 1000 views and 31 people call it a favorite! I'm flattered by all of the attention on this piece.
The briolette that is the focal point of this cluster is a highly faceted large prasiolite, also known as green amethyst (aka quartz). You can see 2 smaller prasiolite beads off to the left. The rest of the stones are tourmaline in various shades of green.
I love the elegance of this necklace. All of the silver is sterling. More details in my etsy shop.
